"You need chaos in your soul to give birth to a dancing star"
- Isa, yoga teacher from coastal Oaxaca, Mexico
During our recent trip to the coastal town of Playa Zipolite in Oaxaca..........
My mom and I met many memorable individuals. Most significant to me is the Mexican teacher, Isa, who taught at the yoga center where my Mom and I stayed while visiting Mexico's southern most point. Every class, while we are lying in shavasana, she would slip a small piece of paper with words of wisdom under the tip of each student's mat (shavasana is the rest and rejuvenation time at the end of yoga classes). It is unclear whether she wrote these during the long shavasana or prepared them in advance nor whether each is tailored to the knowledge of what words might most positively align with her's students current state of being vs. placing them at random for each student.
First, have never heard of anyone doing this before and think it is a super idea. Second, I was stunned at the degree to which each message I received seemed as if it spoke to my inner most true self. H
ow could she have known within the first class or a week or a lifetime the right words for a person at a particular moment in their lives? Yet, in another way I am not surprised as she is one of the rare individuals I have encountered with an acute sense of intuition. It is as if she could see into my soul.
I will share some of the message I have received in the blog in the coming days. This is the one from the second day I took her class:
"You need chaos in your soul to give birth to a dancing star"
hi kerry. this is particular message is a nietzsche quotation. glad her intuition brought these meaningful words to you. i had an interesting (less pleasant) experience in yoga classes in guatemala. liked listening to the directions in Spanish but this teacher was very rigid and strict in his style.
